Recycling – Local and Further Afield
All of us want to do what we can for the environment and climate change. One of the simplest ways we can do this is to recycle as much as possible using the council kerbside collection and facilities, but there are a lot of other items that can be recycled – we’re just not sure about what and where we can recycle it.
Some of the larger supermarkets also offer recycling facilities on their premises, general recycling in the car park and batteries, plastic packaging, wrapping and bags normally in-store.
A couple of useful links to find out where you can recycle various different items are:
Carnforth Waste & Recycling Centre – run by Lancashire County Council, the link gives a list of items that can be recycled or disposed off at the site.
Recycle Your Electricals – just put in your postcode, choose what you’re looking to recycle and it will give you options of where you can recycle it within your council area – in Arnside’s case, Westmorland and Furness Council. However, you could just type in ‘Carnforth’ to access options nearby.
Following a ‘Community Consultation’, Westmorland and Furness Council are implementing a ‘Waste & Recycling Harmonisation’ over the coming months and into 2026. To see what this involves, click here.
To report a missed bin collection, request a new bin or plastic recycling bag or find out more, click here or you can call 0300 373 3300 for information.
