The Burton-in-Kendal Educational Foundation provides small grants to Sixth Form, College, University Students and Apprentices
Update: As we write this, our cheques to students are being written, signed and ready to deliver.
We wanted to let students and parents/carers know that we appreciate that our grants are not a huge sum of money but ‘every little helps’ as a certain supermarket says! Even if you can treat yourself to a Friday night pizza or text book to help with your studies, we hope you enjoy your money.
The money available for our grants varies each year depending on the amount our investments return, as well as the number of students applying. Our method of distribution is to calculate the total grant fund available and then to divide those funds equally amongst the number of applicants, with a weighting in favour of University applicants, who face greater financial demands.
To qualify you need to have lived in one of the following Civil Parishes for at least 2 years and be under 25 years of age:
- Arnside.
- Burton in Kendal
- Holme
- Preston Patrick
- Dalton
- The Hamlet of Holmescales
- Beetham
- Meathop
- Ulpha
- Witherslack
