The New Arnside Playground Installation to Commence Week beginning 31st March

Confirmation has been received that the contractors will be on site week commencing 31st March to start the installation, which is scheduled to take 2-3 weeks allowing for any unforeseen groundworks and weather. The site will be fenced off shortly before 31st March.

Working hours on the site will be 8am to 6pm to get the work done as quickly as possible. Deliveries to the site will be made between 11am amd 1pm where possible to avoid school traffic.

People and properties directly affected will be contacted by either the Playground Group or the Parish Clerk, and the school has also been informed to pass details on to parents.

Don’t forget that the playground will be closed from 24th March to allow the current play equipment to be removed in readiness for work to start.

Date For Work To Start On The New Playground!

Although still awaiting final confirmation, all the hard work and effort of the fundraising group, together with the sponsors, donors and everyone involved in making this happen, will finally come to fruition next month.

Installation of the new playground is due to take place at the end of March, with removal of the existing playground taking place during the week before. While this will unfortunately mean that the playground will be closed from 24th March – and therefore over the Easter holidays, the other suggested installation date was not until September which would mean no new playground for the Summer holidays either.

Check out the fantastic new layout below, it will be well worth waiting for! An accessible playground for the future and for all children.

Great News From The Arnside Playground Project

The target has been reached! 🎉😁😻 and the new playground equipment is currently being manufactured. The lead time is around 8-10 weeks and the installation takes 2-3 weeks. So the new playground should be up and running in time for summer at the latest 🛝🌞

Thank you to everyone who has helped, supported and donated to the Playground Project over the last 12 months. There has been amazing community involvement and it has all made this possible. Grants have been received from various trusts and community funds, as well as sizeable donations from local events including the Arnside Music Festival and the Arts & Crafts Fair in the summer. The Parish Council have also made a sizeable donation in recognition of the importance of having a safe, stimulating children’s playground in the village.

The price has been renegotiated with the supplier, and it has been agreed to use our own contractor to remove the current equipment. A generous offer to supply security fencing while the work is done free of charge has all helped to get to our goal.

So a massive ‘Thank You!’ and ‘Well Done!’ to the fundraising group, sponsors, donors and everyone involved in making this happen.

We look forward to seeing all the children having a great time and enjoying the new Arnside Playground!

Jumble Sale Raises over £600 for Children’s Playground

A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along to the Jumble/Vintage Sale at the W.I. & Village Hall recently, to all those who donated items and to Arnside Beach Hut for their ‘pop-up’ cafe!

It was great to see so many people supporting the event and the final total raised on the day was a wonderful £638.40. A great team effort!

Thanks too to all who helped on the day, couldn’t have done it without you. Too many of you to list but you were all brilliant and it is much appreciated. Everyone was so generous with donations there were quite a lot leftover which have been donated to various charity shops to help others. Thank you, Arnside!

To keep in touch with what’s happening with the Playground, follow their Facebook page You can help by supporting fundraising events (there is a Craft Fair coming up in the summer), donating via one of the Collection boxes situated in the Nisa, Arnside House, or Sandpipers Cafe or donate through the crowdfunding page. No matter how small, every little helps. Thank you.

🎉Arnside Playground Project🎉

Following the Community Wellbeing Day last October a working group has been formed to raise the funds and over see the project to install a new playground in Arnside. The playground stall was very busy on that day with both parents and children wanting to express their views on both the state of the current playground and their thoughts on what should be in its place. The children particularly were bursting with great ideas about what to do on the site of the current playground and we had lots of drawings to work with.
The Group – Arnside Playground Working Group, is made up of four members of Arnside Parish Council and three enthusiastic and interested residents with both experience of fundraising and organising village events. Most importantly they have children who use the current playground.
After talking to the local authority and other parks and playground groups in the area, three potential suppliers were contacted and given a brief based on the feedback from the Wellbeing Day.
During November and December they all visited Arnside and carried out detailed site surveys. They now have no illusions about what the Arnside weather conditions can throw at the equipment! In January, presentations and costings were received from all three suppliers.
They were all exciting schemes, and we could have chosen any one of them, but one stood out above all the others. It represents great value for money, with lots of new equipment for Arnside children of all ages. There are plenty of pieces of equipment for both group and solo play, sensory play and they have really thought about accessibility.

Now we just need to raise the funds to pay for it. As a community, we have done it once and on the Working Group we are all convinced we can do it again. The Parish Council have already secured a grant of £10,000 and the Working Group has since received a donation from Councillor McSweeney of £500, and two generous donations from the Arnside Community Fireworks Committee and The Albion Community Fund. Other local businesses have also promised to contribute, and we will be talking to them in the coming months. We have identified other potential sources of grant funding and will no doubt be spending the next few months filling in the paperwork. But we will also need help from you!

If anyone has any bright ideas as to how to raise funds or feels they would like to hold an event, the Working Group stand ready to support you. In the meantime, we are going to concentrate on a couple of major fund-raising events.
For our first fund raiser we plan to hold a Coronation Picnic on the Memorial Playing Field on Sunday 7th May. We have gone for the Sunday as we think a lot of people will want to watch the Coronation itself on television on Saturday the 6th. But after the success of the Platinum Jubilee Picnic last year, hopefully everyone can get involved and we can raise lots of money to help us on our way!
Keep your eyes peeled for further events later in the year & you feel you can help in any way please get in touch
