Arnside Apple Day! A Free Family-Fun Day

Arnside Apple Day

As well as a celebration of Arnside’s long history of orchards and fruit growing, Apple Day will show how apples can be a tasty and sustainable local source of food in the future.

Events will centre around the orchards and woodland in Ashmeadow as well as at the Arnside W.I. & Village Hall. There will also be Morris Dancing on the promenade. Bring a picnic if you like!

Local legend, Eddie Albert, will be pressing his own apples and cups of the apple juice will be available for a small contribution.

Everything is FREE, although donations are welcome for food, apple juice and guided walks.

For children, there will be craft activities, a fire pit for apple roasting, face painting, storytelling and some gentle music.

In the W.I. & Village Hall there will be some stalls with apple-themed food and drink available There will also be a ‘Free Plant – swap or not’ outside in the garden.

Arnside Apple Day is organized by the National Landscape, Sustainable Arnside and The Barnes Trust, with a grant provided from The Landscape Trust.There will be an Information Stall in Ashmeadow Orchard with leaflets about Ashmeadow and the Barnes Trust.

There will be historical walks led by trustees of the Barnes Trust. You will need to sign up for these so we can monitor numbers.

There will be signs on the trees to indicate which apples are ready to pick. Plesae bring a bag if you would like to take some apples home. Advice on pruning and orchard management will alo be available.
