The Autumn/ Winter series of lectures for 2025/2026 is a 6 week, fully illustrated course exploring changing styles and plant introduction with Elaine Taylor MA, Garden Historian.
This week, the subjects are:
‘TUDOR GOLDEN AGE‘ – Tudor mansions, the mount, the English knot, and an allegorical garden; regal display to tempt a queen at Kenilworth. New gardening books.
‘STUARTS AND FRENCH SYMMETRY‘ – French influence in Stuart gardens, harnessing water in lively fountains and planting ever-longer avenues of trees. ‘Sylva’ advises on the choice and culture of trees.
