‘SY Gondola’ – A Talk By Julian Blatchley

Learn about the history of the National Trust’s SY Yacht Gondola which sails on Coniston Water.

Built in 1859 SY Gondola has associations with John Ruskin and Arthur Ransome. Restored by the National Trust in 1980, SY Gondola offers cruises on the Lake from April to October.

Julian Blatchley is SY Gondola’s master. He is an ex-oil tanker captain and has written two books about sailing in the Greek Isles where he was a charter yacht skipper. He was educated locally at Heversham Grammar near Milnthorpe.
