Arnside Lecture Group – ‘English Gardens Through The Ages’

The Autumn/ Winter series of lectures for 2025/2026 is a 6 week, fully illustrated course exploring changing styles and plant introduction with Elaine Taylor MA, Garden Historian.

This week, the subjects are:

‘REGENCY ROMANTICS’ – Regency decoration softens the severe Georgian garden; spas and promenades are planned in elegant townscapes. Development of the rose.

‘PLANTS AND DANGER’ – Plant hunters travel the globe. A bewildering array of new plants arrive from abroad, to be displayed in elaborate parterres, ferneries, and arboreta.
