Arnside Lecture Group: ‘English Gardens Through The Ages’

The Autumn/ Winter series of lectures for 2025/2026 is a 6 week, fully illustrated course exploring changing styles and plant introduction with Elaine Taylor MA, Garden Historian.

This week, the subjects are:

‘GEORGIAN FREEDOM‘ – Geometry is abandoned and the ‘natural’ style is a nation-wide craze; classical myths are interpreted with follies and statues.

‘CAPABILITES: BROWN AND HIS DISCIPLES’ – Georgian landscapes are minimal and dramatic, but critics are many.
