Arnside Lecture Group: ‘English Gardens Through The Ages’

The Autumn/ Winter series of lectures for 2025/2026 is a 6 week, fully illustrated course exploring changing styles and plant introduction with Elaine Taylor MA, Garden Historian.

This week, the subjects are:

‘ROMAN FOUNDATIONS‘ – Roman origins influence much that is to come in garden design; Roman villas in England and plant introductions.

‘MEDIEVAL MONKS AND BARONS‘ – Medieval castle gardens, deer parks, and monastic enclosures; herbs for remedies.
