Following the success of the plant swap back in June, Sustainable Arnside are runnning another similar event at the end of the summer, joining in with Arnside Fair-Trade group at their coffee morning at the Sailing Club.
While the emphasis is still ‘anything green’, as September is the time when the growing season is coming to an end and growers find they have a ‘glut’ of everything, why not bring it along so it can be swapped.
- Plants – autumn is the time gardeners split and divide plants ready for the next season. Why not pot them up and bring them along if you have no use for them. Also indoor plants that you may have propagated or no longer need. And not forgetting seeds for sowing next year – spare or collected.
- Pots – any spare plant pots or tubs. Spare garden tools also welcomed.
- Produce – if you have a glut of anything – fruit, vegetables, bunches of herbs, cut flowers – in fact literally anything green, bring it along!
- Preserves – autumn is the time to use the abundance of fruit and vegetables on offer, so, if you have an excess of jams, pickles and preserves, bring them along!
Customers: you can have as much as you want for a £1. You don’t need to bring anything at all, just the means to take it all home!
