Quest Talk: Lancaster Lunatic Asylum

Pauline Churchill will describe the history of the asylum, opened in 1816 and later renamed Lancaster Moor Hospital. It closed in 2000 and has since been redeveloped for housing.

In its day, it had a reputation for pioneering the humane treatment of patients. It even had separate, more luxurious facilities for those patients who could pay.

Guest admission at £2.50 for a single talk, including refreshments.
