Time
09:00 - 17:30
One in three people in the UK will develop Dementia. It is one of the biggest health challenges of our time.
Families affected are often left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed and don’t know where to go for support. We can help.
We are hosting the ‘Dementia Awareness Day’ with Heron Hill Care Home at Beetham Nurseries where you can experience the Virtual Dementia Tour and learn from experts about what help is available in our community – from how to get a diagnosis to funding options and support groups.
The HARRI bus will also be attending with FREE health checks, including blood pressure checks and promoting physical and mental health services.
Members of the Integrated Care Teams will also be joining us to help with information and to do blood pressure checks.
The Virtual Dementia Tour is the only scientifically and proven method of giving a person with a healthy brain the experience of what Dementia might be like. It has changed the lives of many as it has enabled loved ones to give better support as they gain a better understanding of Dementia.
Local support groups will be joining us such as Dignity in Dementia, South Lakes Dementia Community, Alzheimer’s Society, Carer Support South Lakes, Age UK South Lakeland and Brandreth Foods. We also have free information packs with lots of useful resources.
Our Home Instead South Lakes’ Team will also be there for advice and support including our Dementia Champion and Care Coordinator, Leigh.
Beetham Nurseries is also a very nice spot for refreshments! Our Home Instead Choir will also be singing with children from Beetham and Milnthorpe Primary Schools.
We were really busy last year, so we would advise booking ahead for the dementia bus, so we can guarantee a slot for you.
